Engineers' Expenses and Crown Agents' fees etc.
After the had typhoon of September 18th, 1906, Sir Matthew Nathan told me to open a separate Minor Head for "Typhoon Damages". I understood at the time that expenses incurred in repairing the damage done by this typhoon would not come out of the Capital of the Railway, but now I have been given to understand that this is not the case, so the amount now charged against X.a.7 viz $26,715/36 should be added to the capital cost. I am not keeping a Minor Head in the revised estimate as I am certain the 10% contingencies
will cover this amount.
Chief Resident Engineer.
